About This Course

This practice-based course will delve into the concept of constructivist learning approaches, in making learning authentic, connected and meaningful to one’s context. It will enable teachers to identify pedagogies that will lead to active engagement of the learner and relate the ideas of constructivism to commonly used technology-based learning activities in their classroom. This will enable teachers to design technology integrated learning activities for students in a classroom. Various perennial and emerging technology tools and applications will be explored for its value in making teaching and learning more student centric and fostering teachers’ agency. The completion of the practice-based component will lead to receiving the Digital Badge.

Course Objectives

  • Understand and appreciate constructivist approaches to learning and the role of technology in constructing meaningful learning experiences for the students
  • Teachers will be able to design and implement lesson plans integrating student-centred activities using ICT
  • Immediate output will also include hands-on practice with implementation by enrolled teachers of 1 ICT-integrated lesson plan, connected to curriculum and enabling active, project & problem-based learning with their students using distance technologies during the badge module
  • Teachers will be able to use and integrate new ICT applications for students’ use in their teaching-learning process (for example- Audacity, Photostory etc.)

Who can do this course?

Teachers teaching in middle and secondary level students and having access to at least 5-10 students will undertake this course.

She has worked on developing the Integrated approach for Technology in Education at the Tata Trust, and conceptualizing of the CLIx initiative. Her research interests are in the areas of teacher professional development for technology integration (TPACK), and student use of technology within a constructionist approach.

She has been a part of Integrated approach to Technology in Education (ITE) since 2013 and has been associated with TISS ITE Resource Team since 2016. She has been managing the Certificate in ICT and Education for School Teachers along with providing monitoring and capacity building support for on ground implementation of ITE in government schools as a member of the resource team.
