About This Course
The goal of this course is to develop a critical awareness and a deeper understanding of the role of technology in teaching and learning. The course will draw on contemporary concepts, models and standards in the area of teaching and learning with technology. Applications with demonstrated student-centred use of technology, record of improving understanding of subjects, and activities to develop higher order thinking and critical skills will be explored. It will discuss the role of the teacher using technology in the classroom, integrating it with the curriculum and making the learning connected and authentic for the students. Further, it will delve into the possibilities of technology for teachers’ continued professional development using virtual and blended platforms. The course will provide an opportunity to critically evaluate some of the technology-enabled projects in India. Objectives
- Explain the concept of learning and the role of technology in constructivist learning
- Critically evaluate efforts to integrate ICT in education in India
- Integrate and implement ICT pedagogy (including pillars) and 21st century skills into classroom practice
- Develop digital skills and facilitate these skills in students
- Utilise ICT for professional development

I worked on developing the Integrated approach for Technology in Education at the Tata Trust, and conceptualizing of the CLIx initiative. My research interests are in the areas of teacher professional development for technology integration (TPACK), and student use of technology within a constructionist approach. I will also engage with CLIx Research, and contribute to developing technology integration constructs, measurement and analyses.
Bindu Thirumalai

I have over 18 years’ experience working in the development, academic and corporate sectors, including research and programme implementation in mathematics, technology, and teacher education, as well as software development. My role in CLIx includes strategic coordination of the overall curriculum development effort. I am also an active contributor to curriculum development and research in the areas of Mathematics and i2C.

I have about 15 years of experience in the domains of Development and Education, the last 10 years being in the area of Teacher Professional Development and Education Research. In CLIx, I work with TPD and i2c.

My work links education and technology through multimedia, instruction/ learning design and e-learning. My specialisations have included management studies as well as education in open, traditional, and blended modes. AT CLIx, I am responsible for mapping the technology of education. I also lead this course.
Amit Dhakulkar

I am a researcher in science and mathematics education. My special interest areas include graphicacy and the use of graphs, as well as the history and philosophy of science. My work includes developing educational activities involving graphs and the handling of real-world data. I enjoy exploring the use of technology to design and change learning experiences in science and mathematics. In CLIx I am also a part of the Mathematics team.
Arunachal Kumar

I dropped out of Physics graduate school to join the education sector. I have taught at most levels in public secondary schools, and worked in the area of professional development for teachers and teacher educators, particularly in STEM Education. I have co-led a municipal school, innovating best practices in school leadership. I am keenly interested in developing novel content and designing creative learning experiences for children and adults, in an open, community-based, tech-driven setting.
